If I were to describe my own career using the metaphor of a sandwich, I’d say it had a Latin leadership center between two slices of Higher Ed bread. That is, the heart of my career was with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where I spent a mostly sweet 16 years in leadership development, preceded by my position as Director of Cooperative Education at The American University, and followed most recently by almost seven years as Director of Career and Graduate Student Services at the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington, D.C. Add coaching and consulting as lettuce and tomato. Now for the dessert, which is, some would argue, the best part!

In semi-retirement, I’m reactivating WyldeFire Creatives LLC, a coaching and training practice which I’ve formed along the way to help emerging leaders make a positive social impact through dynamic communication (networking) and global public service. I’m planning to tap my passion for community-building and sustainability and put it to work. We’re all struggling to make meaningful connections in the world as we move out of the pandemic into a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world! Recently I graduated from Leadership Arlington 2024, and I’m ready to serve in the community.

I try to live up to the Oberlin alumni ("Obie") reputation for social activism and reform. I'm also proud to be part of the Georgetown Leadership Coaching alumni community, and am a certified coach through the International Coach Federation (ICF). With a passion for all things international, I speak Spanish, studied French in Tours, France and lived in San José, Costa Rica. On Sundays I always watch Fareed Zakaria and read the New York Times. Locations on my travel bucket list are South Africa, Northern Ireland, and Kyoto, Japan! I’d also love to fly business on Emirates and stay at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai. For me, career success is all about connecting with people and creating sustainable communities for the future. I'm co-author of the book Strategic Connections: The New Face of Networking in a Collaborative World (recommended by Wharton’s Adam Grant), and am active on social media. I count myself lucky to know you! Please stay in touch.
